The Meadows Named Best Hidden Gem Golf Course in Maine by MyGolfSpy

The best hidden gem in every state.
For this list, I wanted courses that deserve more attention than they receive.
The criteria are fairly straightforward. Every selection must be open to the public, offer a full 18-hole round and possess something that makes it worth seeking out. That might be interesting architecture, exceptional scenery, unusual terrain, strong conditioning, tremendous value or simply a memorable experience that doesn’t receive much national attention.
I also tried to avoid the obvious choices. A course doesn’t need to be completely unknown, particularly within its home state, but it shouldn’t be one of the first names that comes to mind when discussing that state’s best public golf, or even one of the first names that come up when discussing hidden gems. It shouldn’t be highly ranked or highly touted on a national level.
For example, Pacific Grove in California is so widely known as a hidden gem nationally that it no longer qualifies for this type of list. I would say the same for a place like Pilgrim’s Run in Michigan. A hidden gem has to be, well, hidden (I’m sure we’ll have plenty of debate over just how hidden a place needs to be)…
