November 2023 Notes & Events | The Meadows Golf Club

Dear Doolin’s & The Meadows Family & Friends,

As we enter November, I think about people. Looking back a few weeks ago there were 35 of us in Ireland for a golf tour trip. The golf and sights were unbelievable, but what makes the trip is the people we traveled with and built strong lifetime friendships. There were also fantastic people we interacted with in the towns, our bus drivers were amazing and the golf staffs were great. I’m thankful for each and every one of you friends and members of The Meadows Golf Club and Doolin’s Pub. We’re thankful for your support. We’re thankful for your input. We’re thankful for your presence.

How right I was about the importance of the people in our extended Litchfield and Maine community. People make all the difference in the great times and the horrific. No matter how bad it got last week it was our fellow citizens, neighbors, friends and family that were there to lean on, cry and mourn with. In the face of tragedy our community can be counted on to revert back to love and support for each other and that’s why we love living here.

There is much healing to happen and our prayers are with everyone who lost a friend or family member or experienced this tragedy up close. We are incredibly grateful to our brave first responders and every community member that has offered aid to those in need.

And this tragedy hit us up close. Some of you know that one of the victims lost was Mike Deslauriers. I’ll never forget his quick wit and abbreviated laugh. To his family we have no words, but you can always get a hug or smile here. We love you.
