Doolin’s inducts its newest Pub Ambassador – Meet Chas, Appalachian & PCT Trail Trekker
Charles Thomas Hofmeister, known as Chas, was born in January 1991 and is the oldest of 10 children. He currently lives in Austin, Texas and is the Produce Manager of a local supermarket chain. On April 28, 2019 he started his solo trek from Springer Mtn., Georgia to “thru-hike” the Appalachian Trail; a 2,190 mile journey through 14 states. During a brief break from the trail to visit friends in Litchfield, Chas was introduced to Doolin’s Pub. With his newly acquired Doolin’s Pub shirt he set back out on the trail and proudly wore it while summiting Mt. Katahdin (5,267feet) on September 30, 2019. He said that his time in Litchfield and at Doolin’s was his best weekend of all those months.
Not content with just one amazing feat, Chas took on the Pacific Coast Trail starting July 14th, 2023. Many days on the trail he was seen wearing his Doolin’s Pub shirt. He summited Mt. Whitney (14,505 feet) in October, and later completed the 2,657 mile journey on November 19, 2023 all while wearing his Doolin’ Pub shirt.
Very few people finish the Appalachian Trail. Very few people finish the Pacific Coast Trail. And a miniscule number of people can say they completed both. Chas is an official “Doolin’s Pub Ambassador” for this amazing accomplishment.
What adventure is next for Chas while wearing his Doolin’s Pub shirt? Will it be the Continental Divide Trail or will he find himself overseas finding his “way” to the Camino de Santiago. Stay tuned!
